PortletFaces Tools is an open source project for JSF 1.2 portlets that run within Liferay Portal. The project has transitioned to legacy status, which means there will be no more formal releases. Developers that want to use similar functionality in a JSF 2 environment should migrate to the LiferayFaces project.

Legacy Status Announcement: The PortletFaces Tools project has transitioned to legacy status. This means that there will be no more formal releases beyond version 1.3.0, although bugs may be fixed occasionally in the trunk.

Developers that want to use similar functionality in a JSF 2 environment should migrate to the LiferayFaces project.

Project Feature Overview

The project contains a wealth of features that expose the standard features of the Portlet 2.0 API and vendor-specific features of Liferay in a way that is natural to JSF 1.2 development. The following is a list of high level features:

Project History

The PortletFaces Tools project was originally called "PortletFaces" and was founded by community members Joel Kozikowski and Neil Griffin. The project name became the inspiration for the portletfaces.org website, which is an umbrella for many projects that utilize JSF and portlet technology.

portletfaces.org co-founder Neil Griffin is a contributing author of the JSF 2.0 Complete Reference. Appendix A is dedicated to developing JSF and ICEfaces 1.8 portlets for Liferay Portal.
